One hundred and twelve strains of endophytic fungi were isolated from Podocarpus macrophyllus, Taxus wallichiana ver mairei,Cephalotaxus fortunei and Ginkgo bilobal. For getting the strains with high activity of anti-tumor, with Artemia Salina model as the pre-screening method, thirty nine strains (LD 508) were identified as highly active fungi (34.8% of total isolated strains). With MTT assay as re-screening approach ,the results show that nine strains of endophytic fungi (8.0% of the total isolated stains) can inhabit the growth of KB or HL-60 cell (ID 5080). 7.4% of endophytic fungi isolated from Podocarpus macrophyllus, 11.1% from Taxus wallichiana ver mairei and 8.3% from Cephalotaxus fortunei have cytotoxic activities, respectively. The results indicate that endophytic fungi accreting with pharmaceutical plants have significant functions in research and development of the anti-tumor bioactive materials.
