The photomechanical response of polystyrene and polymethyl methacrylate containing 6′-1,3,3-trimethyl-spiro-(2H-1-benzopyran-2,2′indoline), were investigated. The effects of the concentrations of the photochrome and of the initial stress were studied and the rates of the dark relaxation responses compared with the rates of decolouration of the photochrome.
