The Neogene flora of Luhe belongs to Holarctic geoflora. Angiosperms are the dominated elements in this flora, such as Alnus, Betula, Carpinus, Ulmus, Corylus, Quercus, Cyclobalanopsis, Castanopsis, Carya, Castanea, Liquidambar, Davidia, Ilex, Palmae, etc. The vegetation type is evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved forest although some coniferous forests (Abies, Tsuga, Pinus etc) are present near the highlands. The assemblage of pollens and spores reflects a warm and humid subtropical climate. The geological age of Luhe ranges from Middle-Late Miocene to Early Pliocene, based on comparison with other floras.
