Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament of the cervical spine may be asymptomatic, or may cause local symptoms or symptoms of cord compression (Fujimoto and Terayama, 1969). Myelography may reveal a narrowed spinal canal (Onjiet al.,1967). It has a typical radiological appearance and until recently has been described only in Japanese individuals.
