Conducted 2 experiments to study the validity of a measure of empathy in 2 social situations involving aggression and helping behavior. The basic hypotheses were that a person who has a high level of emotional empathy is (a) less likely to engage in aggressive behavior and (b) more likely to engage in helping behavior when he notices distress in another.
