Tenuazonic acid (TeA) is a toxin produced by the rice blast fungusPyricularia oryzae. Although knockout of the TeA biosynthetic geneTAS1did not affect the virulence ofP. oryzae, constitutiveTAS1expression suppressed its infection.TAS1expression was induced alongside transition ofP. oryzaeinfection behavior. The results suggested that controlling TeA biosynthesis is important forP. oryzaeinfection.
