W. malayi larvae, developed in laboratory-bred Mansonia uniformis fed on human carriers, were successfully transferred by subcutaneous inoculation to such animals as, the rhesus monkey and other species of Macaca, slow loris (Nycticebus concong), civet cat and domestic cat, and adult worms recovered. Strains of W. malayi were passaged successively through monkey, cat and loris. The domestic cat proved to be a very successful reservoir host. It seems plausible that these or other wild or domestic animals might serve as natural reservoirs of the W. malayi infection in Malaya. Filariasis control measures should include recognition of such possibility. || ABSTRACT AUTHORS: A. C. Chandler
