Examined whether there were differences in the relative accommodation of 30 male undergraduates and 30 female undergraduates as they interacted in same-gender and mixed-gender dyads. The variables examined were speech productivity, interruptions, short pauses, long pauses, listener back-channel responses, and laughter. Results indicate that there were differences in the conversational behaviors of males and females. Different types of accommodation were observed across the variables studied.(PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2018 APA, all rights reserved)
