The high-pressure behavior of RuOhas been examined using Raman-scattering spectroscopy to a pressure of 31 GPa and a temperature of 1000 K employing a hydrothermal diamond anvil cell (HTDAC) technique. The ferroelastic transition from the rutile- to the CaCl-type structure was confirmed. A split of the Emode in the rutile-type structure to the Band Bmodes in the CaCl-type structure was observed at the transition pressure. A change in the pressure dependence of each Raman mode between the rutile- and the CaCl-type structure was confirmed. The transition has a positive dPdT gradient, which is consistent with those reported in other AOstudies. The transition boundary was determined to be P (GPa)5.90.0056 × T (K).
