According to the thermodynamic analysis for chloridizing roasting of electroplating sludge, main metal ions including nickel and copper can be chloridized when roasted at 673 K with ammonium chloride as the chloridizing agent, while iron, with goethite and hematite being the dominant phase,is theoretically difficult to be chloridized. Materials from roasting were leached by weak acid, and parameters were optimized as follows: the acidity of hydrochloric acid was1 mol / L,leaching time was 45 min, leaching temperature was 318 K,and liquid to solid ratio was 4∶ 1. The results are consistent with the thermodynamic analysis,as leaching rates of nickel and copper are 97. 48% and 87. 65%,respectively,while leaching rate of iron is only 26. 83%.
