A Raman experiment which yields basic insights into molecular interactions via vibrational line shape analysis is presented. Specifically, line shifts and changes in profile of the acetone C-C and C=O vibrations during dilution with methanol and CCl4are examined. The spectra during methanol dilution reveal an increase in attractive interactions, while those resulting from dilution with CCl4reveal increasing repulsive interactions.
