A 10 year experience of treatment of gastro-intestinal fistulas is analyzed. A table of priorities of management is presented with a discussion of supportive therapy and indications for operation. The importance of an optimal, planned, nutritional program is stressed. Adequate nutrition is a decisive factor in survival whether or not the patient requires definitive surgery.
