In the review the organic aerosol analysis has been presented. The interest has been focused on the procedures and methods used for identification and quantification of organic compounds in the particulate matter. The common procedure for organic aerosol analysis includes several steps: sample collection on the fiber filters, extraction oforganics, sample pretreatment (e.g. pre-separation, derivatisation, pre-concentration), analysis by gas chromatography. There are also alternative instrumental techniques, which allow one to overcome the limitations of the conventional capillary gas chromatography and to avoid complicated and time-consuming sample handling. They have been also discussed in this paper.
