The stomach contents of 23 specimens of Potamotrygon orbignyi from the Parnaiba River drainage at Urucui-PI were analyzed. The Index of Relative Importance (IRI) and its respective percentages (%IRI) were calculated. The level of stomach repletion 1/4 full was the most frequent. The food items identification indicated the presence of four families in the diet, composed exclusively by insects. Differences in diet were observed when comparing %IRI between males and females, with Diptera larvae (49.8%) and Ephemeroptera nymphs (50.1%) as the main items consumed by females, and Ephemeroptera nymphs (82.8%) by males.
