Abstracts of 14 papers are presented dealing with topics on the: (i) biological exploration of northern Sulawesi by Alfred Russel Wallace (1823-1913); (ii) integration of biodiversity and integrated pest management (IPM) into cropping systems os some crops such as rice and cassava; (iii) impact of invasive species, insecticide misuse and climate change on biodiversity; (iv) use of biodiversity to slow the spread of cassava mealybugs (includingPhenacoccus manihoti); (v) contribution of modern breeding techniques and biotechnology, and use of traditional crop varietal diversity to increase yields and reduce pest and disease damage in agricultural ecosystems; and (vi) use of information technology and data management tools to support the exclusion of invasive species and IPM.
