Hoang Tuan TONG, Nobuhiko NISHIHARAGUCHI, Takenobu SUZUKI and Yasutake OHISHI, Research Center for Advanced Photon Technology, Toyota Technological Institute. “Fabrication of a novel tellurite hollow core optical fiber” Vol. 127, No. 4, p. 187–190 The cover presents the cross-sectional image of a tellurite hollow core optical fiber. Using this micro air-hole structure, light beams at different wavelengths from a supercontinuum light source can be coupled and propagated in the central hollow core by the fundamental mode. With the advantages of using tellurite glasses such as high refractive index and broad transmission spectrum, it is expected that tellurite hollow core photonic crystal fiber (HC-PCF) will be a good candidate for many interesting applications which cannot be realized by silica-based HC-PCFs.
