See J. F. I. 229 (3): 455-476 and 613-640. 1940. A manual syringe drive is described which fulfils the requirements for a high driving force causing minimum disturbance to the electro-optical system. This permits the attainment of a flow velocity of 25 m./sec. and a light transmission measurement of one part in 10,000. One-half cc. of each reactant is sufficient for a kinetic curve when the speed of response of the photoelectric amplifier is 0.01 second. For this value of fluid economy the time range of the accelerated flow method is from 0.3-10 msecs. and the time range of the stopped flow method is from 30 msecs. to 60 secs. The rate of 10 rapid reactions of inorganic chemistry is measured.
