The American Carbon Society is an interdisciplinary group established to promote scientific and engineering endeavors and research in the field of carbon. The group has geen in existence since 1953 and sponsors the journal CARBON. The American Carbon Society is planning a new effort involving symposia/workshops on selected topics with invited speakers from throughout the world. The first symposium will be on the topic "Adsorption on Carbons" and will be held at Hilton Head, South Carolina, March 17-20, 1986. The participants supporting this meeting are eminent researchers from many academic and industrial organizations.
