Erosion of Passive Continental Margins: Thermal and Isostatic Implications

许多被动边缘的主要地貌特征是侵蚀陡坡，自边缘形成以来，已向内陆迁移了数十公里。观察到的磷灰石年龄变化是剥蚀历史的热响应，与地貌一起，约束了被动边缘侵蚀的理论模型。PIS将开发被动边际侵蚀模型。这项研究的总体目标是了解a)被动边缘的侵蚀过程，以及b)侵蚀及其均衡响应在塑造被动边缘的形态构造史中的作用。

The primary geomorphological characteristic of many passive margins is an erosional escarpment which has migrated up to several tens of km inland since formation of the margin. Observed apatite age variation is a thermal response to denudational history, and together with the geomorphology, constrains theoretical models for erosion at passive margins. The PIs will develop models for erosion at passive margins. The overall objective of this research is to understand a) the process of erosion at passive margins, and b) the effect of erosion and its isostatic response in shaping the morpho-tectonic history of passive margins.
