提出的研究方向是对原核生物基因调控下蛋白质-蛋白质相互作用的结构分析。将采用遗传和生化方法来检验(i)噬菌体λ抑制因子和大肠杆菌CAP蛋白的转录激活机制以及（ii）沿着DNA相互结合一定距离的调节因子之间相互作用的性质。

The proposed research is directed toward a structural analysis of the protein-protein interactions underlying gene regulation in prokaryotes. Genetic and biochemical approaches will be employed to examine (i) the mechanism of transcriptional activation by phage lambda repressor and the E. coli CAP protein and (ii) the nature of interactions between regulator bound some distance from one another along the DNA.
