Career Access for Under-Represented Groups in Earth, Ocean and Environmental Sciences

Minorities are greatly under represented in careers in the geosciences. This renewal request is to coordinated an oversee a cooperative program to encourage minority undergraduates in their pursuit of professional careers in earth, ocean and environmental sciences. Participants will take part in two summers of supervised scientific research; a summer enrichment program; and two academic years of financial support, regular meetings with faculty mentors, and assistance with graduate school application. Three historically minority Universities-Elizabeth City State, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Pembroke State University will receive subcontracts by this award to increase their respective individual institution programs as well as inter- institutional activities.
