9405360 Foley This is a group travel award for American computer engineers and scientists to attend a workshop on the foundations and future developments in the area of human-computer interaction in multimedia systems in Dagstuhl, Germany. Topics covered in the workshop will include, but not be limited to, aspects of user interfaces involving the purposes of multimedia systems, media encoding and compression, multimedia support systems and abstractions, storage, databases, communications and networking for multimedia, electronic document handling and mailing, conferencing and collaborative computing, and virtual reality and multimodal interfaces. A record of the proceedings of the workshop is to be produced and published.
