9726424 Xiao, Jing University of North Carolina -- Charlotte POWRE: Visiting Associate Professor at Stanford University The PI plans to visit the Department of Computer Science and the affiliated Robotics Lab of Stanford University in 1998 with the objectives as defined in the program of Professional Opportunities for Women in Research and Education (POWRE): to achieve professional growth, career advancement, and increased prominence. The proposed activities will be centered around the theme of her new line of robotics research recently funded by NSF, to which there is much related expertise at Stanford and a great possibility for fruitful collaboration. The results are expected to impact significantly the PI's research and to be mutually beneficial to both her home and host institutions.
