Support for Chairmanship of the Scientific Committee for theInternational Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP): A Study of Global Change

9812734MooreDr. Berrien Moore will serve as Chair of the Scientific Committee(SC) of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), aninterdisciplinary program for research on global change sponsoredby the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU). The IGBPfocuses on interactive biological and chemical Earth-systemprocesses, the changes that these processes are undergoing, and theinteraction between these processes and human activity. The IGBPis organized around a series of "core projects" planned andimplemented on an integrated international basis with substantialparticipation by U.S. scientists, primarily under the aegis of theU.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP). The SC-IGBP providesinternational oversight and coordination for the complex series ofIGBP core projects, as well as for related scientific supportactivities, including a major scientific data and informationexchange system.
