WoodThis award will support outside speakers in the Connecticut LogicSeminar, which usually meets at Wesleyan University and drawsparticipants from New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Theseminar provides a forum for recent work in a wide range oflogical topics, including model theory, set theory, recursiontheory, proof theory, and computer science.In recent years the number of connections between logic and otherparts of mathematics has increased, as evidenced by applicationsof model theory in algebra, number theory, and analytic functiontheory. This has resulted in attendance at the seminar byresearchers from areas outside logic, a trend which theorganizers expect to continue and plan to foster by includingspeakers whose work is of broad interest. Speakers andparticipants include representatives of every career stage, fromgraduate students through distinguished senior leaders, and pasteditions of the seminar have led to new collaborations betweenresearchers and shaped the training and theses of graduatestudents.
