REU: Undergraduate Research in Elementary Particle Physics, Accelerator Physics, and Synchrotron Radiation Science

The Laboratory for Elementary-Particle Physics (LEPP) at CornellUniversity will provide 10 undergraduates with the excitement and challenge of frontier research and with opportunities to acquire new skills andmeet researchers at all stages of their careers. The constellation ofprograms includes elementary particle physics (part of the CLEOCollaboration, studying fundamental questions of the weak andstrong forces), accelerator physics (using the CESR electron-positron storagering), synchrotron radiation science (both using the the existing x-rayfacility - CHESS - and designing new facilities) and microwavesuperconductivity. The selected students will work closely with LEPP physicists and participate in seminars, lectures, tours of campus facilities, andactivities designed to promote interactions among the many undergraduateresearchers at Cornell. Travel and housing allowances are given in additionto a summer stipend.
