Title: Planning Grant to Assess STEM Programming at the University of Arkansas at Pine BluffUniversity of Arkansas Pine BluffHRD - 0310083PI: Mary E. BenjaminThrough an HBCU-UP Planning Grant, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the institution's undergraduate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and research infrastructure. Outcomes of the assessment will enable the university to develop a comprehensive institutional plan to enhance the quality of the institution's STEM enterprise and to increase of number student graduates from science, technology, engineering and mathematic fields of study. Special attention will be placed on strategies to improve student retention past the sophomore year. Planning and enhancement efforts will be managed through a STEM Advisory Committee, faculty, and a community forum. STEM program enhancements will include faculty/staff/student seminars, K-12 outreach, evaluations of model university programs and other strategies.
