On the basis of the results from the previous founding periods, a reaction mixture for the reductive amination of 1-undecanal will be formulated by the use of micellar solvent systems. The rational selection of an optimal phase system for an unknown reaction will be the focus of this work. A fast and efficient selection of an appropriate surfactant during the process synthesis is based on the simulta-neous optimization of reaction conditions and catalyst recycling. In addition, detailed kinetic studies will be performed to develop a macrokinetic model for the reductive amination, suitable for reactor design and process control.
