NSF will provide support for the Fifth International Science Conference on theGlobal Energy and Water Cycle that will be held at the Westin, South Coast Plaza Hotel in Orange County, California, June 20-24, 2005. Results from field experiments, new developments in theory, and modeling and observational capability that are being undertaken in the context of the World Climate Research Programme's Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) and other related activities, are expected to be reported. Particular emphasis will be on the linking of disciplines such as coupled atmospheric and land surface models, and cross-discipline studies. The advances in scientific knowledge presented will provide new information to assess the impact of climate on water resource management. In focusing on the program's science areas involving clouds, radiation, hydrologic processes, and modeling, there will be six interrelated session, each addressing one of the scientific themes.
