Collaborative Research: Continental Break-up, Ridge Segmentation and Subduction of the Woodlark Basin

0526030Taylor/GoodliffeAbstractFunding is provided for the PIs to continue working on the swath and geophysical data recently collected earlier from the Woodlark Basin that shows continental breakup, spreading center segmentation and ridge/seamount subduction. This will allow a better understanding of the structure of the ocean ridge segmentation, the interplay of magmatism and faulting and the history of spreading center subduction. The PIs will also create a comprehensive GIS database of the Basin to study the global plate tectonic processes.Broader impacts include support for an early career faculty member and development of undergraduate teaching modules.
