OISE-0527163 Downey, Gary (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University), "International Network for Engineering Studies Workshop #1: Engineers and Education:ABSTRACTDr. Gary Downey of Virginia Tech will organize an international research workshop on "Emerging Issues in Engineering Studies: Engineering and Education" at Virginia Tech in September 2006. The workshop forms an integral part of an effort-led by Dr. Downey, Dr. Maria Paula Diogo of the New University of Lisbon Portugal and Dr. Chyuan Yuan Wu of National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan-to establish an International Network of Engineering Studies. The workshop will bring together a diverse group of senior and junior faculty and graduate students from at least nine institutions in the U.S. with scholars from Asia and Europe for a three day "working workshop" aimed at building a strengthened network of scholars in this field, which over time will produce a vigorous program of comparative research.
