CBET-0723010 Rundell The Human Performance Laboratory in the College of Health and Human Services at Marywood University plans to acquire a GRIMM Sequential Mobility Particle Sizer and Counter (SMPS +C), GRIMM model 1.109 Spectrometer, EcoChem PAS 2000 CE and LQ1-DC. This equipment is essential to the research of the Marywood University Human Performance Laboratory and will enhance our commitment to research-related student education. The SMPS +C provides high accuracy and resolution of particles with counts up to 107 particles/cm3. It can characterize diesel exhaust particles according to size distribution (distribution analysis between 1 to 100 or 5 to 350 or 10 to 1100 nm), obtains accurate particle counts, and model particle agglomeration rates and surface area. Since particle number and/or surface area are critical to toxicity, accurate sizing and counts are needed. Characterization of particle decay in relation to distance and time from emission source is a critical component to understanding emission particle toxicology.
