This 3MET project provides heterometallic 3MET complexes of three paramagnetic metal ions, ideally from three different areas of the Periodic Table. The three ions should interact cooperatively to produce exotic electronic and magnetic signatures not expected of the single ion systems: this represents targeting the ultimate “3MET compound” which the project has been building towards. This major goal will be pursued from the beginning of FP3 in order to ensure a successful outcome. The project addresses the challenge of structural characterization, of the exploration, and of the explanation of the electronic and magnetic behavior of these complexes
