1. The project shall develop a typology of explanations for actions. Their scopes and possible conflicts between explanations are analyzed. 2. The systematic development of a minimal theory of mind for imperfect agents shall be focused in the project. A design method for agents from the philosophical agencydebate and theory of mind-research shall be taken up and advanced. 3. The developed theory shall be applied specifically to a situation modeled in research of human-machine-systems. By cooperation with a sub-project of the SFB working with brain imaging-studies, the following hypothesis shall be tested: Can technical agents, suited with a minimal theory of mind and explicit cognitive architectures, appear for humans as if they have a strong theory of mind?
