AbstractAward: DMS-0911292Principal Investigator: Gilbert Weinstein, Gregory GallowayThis award provides partial support for US participants in asession on mathematical relativity within an internationalconference entitled Complex Analysis and Dynamical Systems IV(CADS IV) to be held in Nahariya, Israel during May 2009. Thisis the first time that the CADS conferences have included asession this topic.Einstein's equations have received renewed attention in recentyears, in part due to connections between them and othergeometric partial differential equations, and in part due to theemergence of powerful new techniques for such equations. Thespecial session aims to gather specialists and junior researchersin mathematical relativity and geometric partial differentialequations to discuss the wealth of problems and recent results inthese areas, in order to promote new collaborations and furtherprogress. The participation of graduate students, junior PhDs,and members of groups underrepresented in mathematics isparticularly encouraged.
