The Interstellar Medium and Star Formation in the Galactic Center (A05)

Project A5 investigates the impact and feedback of star formation in the extreme environment of the Galactic Center which constitutes the link between Galactic and extragalactic regions and a template for cores of other galaxies. We aim at characterizing the physical and chemical conditions from large scales of several 100 pc to small scales of prominent clouds such as Sgr A and B. We employ spectroscopic observations of atomic and molecular species and detailed modelling of physical and chemical properties to provide a comprehensive view of the complex conditions and processes at work in the Galactic Center.
