From Logos to Kalam: Figurations and Transformations of Knowledge in Near Eastern Late Antiquity (A05)

Focusing on the "formative period" of the Arabic literary tradition, particularly the Qur'an and early Islamic sciences, the project "From Logos to Kalam" aims at identifying and describing processes of knowledge transfer shaped by and involving concepts of language, scripture and its interpretation. It attempts to locate these processes in the 'oikonomies of knowledge' of a late antique milieu.
