Palaeomagnetic Dating and Environmental Magnetism of Sedimentary Record (F06)

Major goal of project F6 is to conduct palaeomagnetic dating to enhance age control for the sedimentary records investigated within the scope of the CRC 806. For this purpose, geomagnetic field excursions (past 120 ka), palaeointensities (250 ka), and palaeosecular variations (>10 ka) of Earth’s geomagnetic field shall be used. In addition, measurements of rock magnetic proxies will be carried out on selected records to complement other proxies in reconstructing environmental and climatic histories.
