By examining the way in which attention and intention modulate automatic, reflex-like cognitive processes, and how this ability develops through adolescence, this research will contribute to our understanding of attentional control and its development in healthy individuals. In turn, this research will have important implications for our understanding of attention-related disorders in children and for their effective treatments. The empirical and theoretical contributions provided by this project will help to further consolidate Australia's strong presence at the forefront of cognitive neuroscience research.
