Linking the exometabolome of selected pelagic organisms of the Roseobacter group to marine dissolved organic matter (A08)

This project aims at characterizing the molecular composition of Roseobacter exometabolomes and the marine geometabolome by FT-ICR-MS. Experimental work will focus on the role of exometabolites for interactions of different Roseobacter strains and other pelagic bacteria with Thalassiosira rotula. Another aspect will be the evaluation and multivariate statistical analysis of the complex data sets collected during the previous funding phases. The ultimate goal is an integrative synthesis of existing and newly gained knowledge on how the pelagic bacterial community shapes the marine geometabolome.
