(Role of severe obesity on healing of muscle injuries) addresses severe obesity as a major co-morbidity factor worsening the trauma response. The project investigates whether severe obesity leads to enhanced adipocytokine release and influences the inflammatory signatures at different stages after severe muscle injury. The analyses include the activation status of satellite cells and changes in stress-induced signalling, with a focus on the posttraumatic function of casein kinase 1g (CK1g). Furthermore, gender-specific aspects of the obesity-induced alterations of the post-traumatic danger response are evaluated.
