6カ月間の間に、知的障害児と精神年齢（Mental Age）を統制した定型発達児を対象に、統語的側面の発達とその影響要因（主に、言語性短期記憶と語彙的側面の発達に焦点を当てて）との関係性について検討を行った。面接調査の実施にあたっては、コロナ禍ということもあり、対面による面接調査だけではなく、zoomを利用したオンラインによる面接調査を実施した。オンラインによる面接調査では、関東地方だけでなく、東北や中部、九州地方など、全国各地からも研究協力を得つつ、データ収集を努めた。そして、知的障害児約60名、4～6歳の定型発達児は約120名の面接調査を終え、現在、自閉スペクトラム症児、ダウン症児など障害種別による検討、また精神年齢（Mental Age）を統制した定型発達児との比較などを行いながら、分析を行っている。これから知的障害児の統語的側面の発達と言語性短期記憶、または語彙的側面の発達との関係性について、障害種別に特徴を明らかにしていくとともに、効果的な言語指導・支援の在り方について考察を深めていく予定である。これらの研究成果については、今後、学会発表、国際誌への投稿を予定しており、現在、少しずつ執筆を進めている。日本では、知的障害児の統語的側面の発達に関する研究は極めて少なく、本研究は基礎的な研究として、知的障害児の統語的側面の発達機序の解明および効果的な言語指導・支援へつなげるための有益な知見を示すことが期待されるのではないかと考える。
