项目摘要

Covid-19感染状況から令和4年度の研究計画を修正した。当初予定していたハランとスマタル・ハラベシの調査は次年度の夏に行う予定である。令和4年度は、7月末から令和5年1月末までの約半年間、イスラエルのヘブライ大学に客員研究員として滞在した。受入研究者のG教授より、イスラーム期のハランのサービア教徒の間で崇拝されていた神々（特に、月神シン）が、古代メソポタミア期のハランにおいて祭儀を捧げられていたことを示すアッカド語の文書について指導を受け、博士論文執筆のために必要と考えられる古代の資料ほぼすべてに目を通し、解釈・訳出を終えた。またイスラエル滞在中にそれに関連した英文の論文を完成させ、欧文学術誌に投稿した。帰国後、9-10世紀のバグダード宮廷において活躍したハラン出身のサービア教徒関連のアラビア語文書の調査を再開。9世紀のスペインで書かれたとされる『賢者の極み』中の関連する記事を、ラテン語訳と合わせつつ訳出し始める。またハランのサービア教徒中、最大の碩学とされるサービト・イブン・クッラ（826-901）とその子孫たちの残した文書の調査から、バグダード宮廷におけるハランのサービア教徒の系譜についての分析を進めた。サービトにはシリア語の異教礼賛（ハランとサービア教礼賛）の宣言文があるが、彼はイスラームとの関係を良好に保っており、イスラームと協調する形でサービア教の改革を行ったものと思われる。資料の検討を行ううち、彼の故郷のハランのサービア教と、サービトによる改革を施されたバグダードのハランのサービア教の対比が浮かび上がってきた。前者は、古代メソポタミアの宗教伝統の色濃く受け継ぎ、後者はギリシア思想の影響とイスラームとの協調を特徴とすると思われ、両者の比較検討とハランのサービア教がイスラームに吸収されてゆくまでがこの研究の大きな流れとなる。その道筋が確実なものとして整った。
