项目摘要

新型コロナウイルス感染症の感染拡大によりインドネシア・カリマンタン島にてフィールドワークが大幅に延期されため、研究活動はこれまでの調査で得た情報・資料の整理、及び先行研究の見直しを中心に行った。また、本研究では焼畑農耕民社会における「脱焼畑」の影響を考察することを課題としていたが、村の水田導入の計画が新型コロナウイルス感染症により延期されたため、研究の課題を変更した。今後は、焼畑農耕民社会におけるセンザンコウ等の希少種猟について、過去から現在までの希少種猟の規模や地域住民が猟を行う意味と重要性、農村部の希少種取引・流通の実態の解明、そして焼畑農業等の土地利用を媒介とした焼畑農耕民と希少種との関わり合い等を明らかにする。最終的に地域社会にとって実現可能性・社会的受容性の高い希少種の保全策の策定や、焼畑をはじめとした焼畑農耕民の生業・土地利用や持続的森林管理と、希少種との共存のあり方について考察することを課題とする。当該年度では、これまでフィールド調査で得られたデータを精査し、また、文献調査を行い、生業の一つとなっているヤマアラシ・センザンコウ猟の意味と重要性を明らかにした。また、センザンコウ猟のこれまでの動向や、猟を選好する理由、一部住民からの保護への関心の高さなどを明らかにした。次に、日常活動理論のフレームワークを用いて論理的に想定可能な保全策を網羅的に特定し、先述の結果も踏まえつつ、それぞれの保全策を社会的受容性の観点から評価した。その結果、狩猟をめぐる規制を慣習法に導入することが地域社会に最も受け入れられる保全策となりうることが明らかになった。以上の成果は、環境社会学会研究例会、および第66回環境社会学会研究大会で発表した。その際、参加者およびコメンテーターから貴重な知見を得ることができた。そうしたフィードバックを参考にして英語論文を執筆した。現在国際誌に投稿中である。
