今年度は新型コロナウィルス感染症による制限が緩和されたことにより、予定通りドイツでの現地調査を行った。研究計画段階から予定されていた種類の史料収集等はもちろんのことであるが、昨年度に得たドイツの学校史に関する新たな知見や、新たなタイプの史料・資料の検索結果をもとにして、予備調査的な性格を兼ね備えるものともなった。元来の調査対象である、教員採用の記録（履歴や推薦状、採用試験の記録）、教員の養成にかかわる記録（教員養成所の音楽教育などを中心にした資料）、学校視察記録を、本研究計画段階より調査対象としていたプロテスタント地域、特にベルリンと中部ドイツのものを中心に収集することができた。また、従来は音楽に関わることが史料の表題等より推測可能な文書がこれまでの調査対象の中心であったが、それ以外に本研究に資する史料の存在が分かった。特に今回の調査では、昨年度得た西洋教育史学の新たな知見から、特に音楽との関わりなさそうな助教員も調査対象とした。すると、予測通り学校での音楽（授業、教会音楽の担当）とのかかわりが深いことが示唆される資料が多く発見され、今後の調査対象と内容の充実につなげることができた。また以上とは性格の異なる資料の調査だが、20世紀初頭に作成されたチューリンゲン地域の自治体ごとに整理しされた音楽家の歴史に関する網羅的な調査のメモを閲覧・検討できた。調査メモなのだが（ドイツでは戦災で大量の史料が焼失しており、その意味でも戦前の調査のメモは重要）、本研究が対象にしている教員であり教会音楽家でもある人物も含まれている。都市はもちろん特に本研究が対象とする小さな集落の学校教師・教会音楽家にまで至るデータベース的資料（もちろん紙媒体だが）となっている。この資料を手掛かりに、今後の調査対象を具体的かつピンポイントで設定することが可能となり、本研究の推進力を増すものと期待される。
