本年度は文献調査を中心に、イタリア映画の鑑賞と分析、学会での資料収集を行なった。また、研究会と講演会で研究成果の公開を行なった。文献調査においては、主にイタリアおよび英米で出版されているジャーロ映画に関する研究書を入手のうえ、記述内容を分析した。イタリア映画の最新動向を把握するために、イタリア映画祭などの映画祭に参加し、本研究テーマに関連があると考えられる作品を鑑賞し、資料を収集した。また、日本映像学会の年次大会に参加し、研究発表を聴講することによって、分析に対する示唆を得ることができた。研究成果の公表については、5月と12月にダリオ・アルジェント作品を中心とするジャッロ映画に関する研究会を開催した。5月の研究会においては、ジャーロ映画に関する最新の研究動向について整理したほか、ダリオ・アルジェント監督の『わたしは目撃者』についての作品分析と制作過程についての調査結果を発表した。12月の研究会においては、ジャーロ映画に対するアメリカ映画と小説の影響をテーマにした研究発表を行なった。11月に開催されたホラー映画に関する講演会においては、研究の中間成果に基づいて、イタリア映画を中心にアメリカ映画を含めた恐怖映画の特徴と魅力についての講演を行なった。また、本研究の作品分析において、中核的な映画監督であるダリオ・アルジェントの新作が2023年4月に公開されることになったのに伴い、作品分析を行い、日本語字幕の監修および解説文の執筆、映画上映後の解説などを行なった。その結果として、本研究テーマの精緻化をすることができた。
