项目摘要

2022年度前半は、新型コロナ感染症のため、ほとんど調査研究活動は行えなかったが、諫早市での千々石ミゲル墓壙の第4次発掘調査の報告書をまとめるにあたり、大村市歴史資料館（長崎）で文献調査を行った。基盤Bの「覚醒する禁教期キリシタン文化」研究が実作例調査が行えないまま中断していたので、フロイスなどの書簡から、現存しないもののキリシタンにとって重要であったアグヌスデイについて歴史をたどる論考をまとめた。さらに、平戸の調査では、旧カクレ信徒の方に遺物を見せていただき、実測・写真撮影を行った。夏季休暇中には、プラド美術館図書館（マドリッド）、Warburg Institute, 大英図書館等（ロンドン）を訪れ、I.ロヨラの「霊操」に表される二つの幻視について考察を深めた。実作例に関しても調査したいものがあったが、所蔵館が再開していないところが多く、実現できなかった。帰国後、9月には、日本学術振興会の外国人研究者招へい事業により、ブリュッセル自由大学のディディエ・マルテンス教授を招へいし、秋田から九州まで2週間、日本中のキリシタンからカトリック信仰に関する信仰対象地をめぐり、信仰具および、聖地について、ベルギー研究会の御協力を得ながら討議を行った。直前になって実施が決まったため、筆者の旅費のほとんどは、本科研費よりの出費となった。1月末には「苦行鞭」についてReMo研究会で、3月には、13世紀のアルフォンソ賢王の『聖母マリア頌歌集』について口頭発表を行った。ロヨラの「霊操」に見られる徹底したリアリズムを理解するのに「新しい敬虔」実践を知る必要があるが、『頌歌集』の挿絵表現はその先駆けとして知られる。これまで、西洋中世と宗教改革後のキリスト教世界観は分断されたように思えていたが、イエズス会の足跡、ことにロヨラの思想をたどると、そこに息づく中世性に気づかされる。
