项目摘要

本研究課題の中間年度にあたる2022年度においては、全体としては、近代商業社会における＜感受性＞の問題が美意識、共感、理性などと結びつき、新たな価値観の形成過程で果たしていた役割を具体的に検討した。商業社会と感受性の関係性を精査し、17世紀後半から19世紀初頭まで長期に亘って続く、認識／意識の変化とそれに伴う新しい社会構造の基盤について具体的なテクストと「感受性研究」の理論的位置づけを再検討し、変容する社会構造・価値判断基準において感受性が果たした「新たな」役割を明らかにした。個別の研究としては、（１）従来、1680年前後から顕在化したとされる国王と議会の宗教的、政治的不和が1670年以前にすでに問題化していたことを、Aphra Behnの初期の悲喜劇において検証、（２）長い18世紀イギリス文学におけるホイッグ主義の表象について、Steele, Gay, Fielding, Cleland, Sterneの作品分析を通じて、その歴史的意義を考察、（３）長い18世紀における蒐集という形で現れる個人の欲望が国家のアイデンティティ、商業国家・帝国の形成とどのように関係していたかの分析、（４）商業主義の発展に伴う物質的な改善・発展と感性の洗練や鍛錬との呼応をスコットランド系定期刊行物の中で考察、（５）18世紀半ば以降の演劇とスコットランド・バラッドとの関係性を探り、国家のアイデンティティ形成においてスコットランド的なるものが果たした役割を考察、を各分担者が行い、意見交換を行うことで、それぞれの研究の重なりあいと、時代に伴う変遷の過程を明らかにした。

In the middle year of this research project, 2022, the whole problem of sensibility in modern business society is discussed in detail, such as beauty consciousness, empathy, rationality, organization and formation process of new value. A detailed examination of the relationship between commercial society and sensitivity, from the second half of the 17th century to the beginning of the 19th century, has been carried out over a long period of time, and the transformation of cognition/consciousness has been accompanied by new developments in the basic framework of social structure.
