令和４年度も新型コロナウィルスにより国外への移動が制限された時期が長かったため、前期は研究を進めるために米国のハワイ大学を訪問し、研究協力者と研究打ち合わせを行うことが困難な時期が続いていた。令和5年３月にようやく渡米することができ、研究協力者であるハワイ大学教授やハワイ・クレオールのネィティブスピーカー教員と研究打ち合わせを行うことができた。また、令和5年３月には研究テーマと研究手法の整合性についての建設的批判を得るために、オンラインで開催された日本メディア英語学会中部地区２０２２年度第１回研究例会にて、「複数の言語・言語変種との接触と英語語彙認識プロセスについて：多文化社会ハワイの場合」という題目で研究発表を行った。令和５年３月初旬にはハワイ大学を訪問することができた。研究協力者であるハワイ大学言語学科の Amy Schafer 教授と研究打ち合わせをしていただき、今後の分析手法について検討した。PsyScopeによる実験によって得られたデータファイルを検討した結果、文全体に埋め込まれた語彙認識のデータは、ターゲットとする語彙だけでなく、文全体の処理の速度に関するデータも取得できているため、語彙認識以外の文処理のプロセスについても分析することが可能であることがわかった。また、もし必要であれば、さらに新たな被験者を集めて実験を行う可能性も検討したが、研究代表者が長期間ハワイ大学に滞在することは困難なため、限られた研究期間の中で実現できるかどうか、今後も検討を続けることとした。
