主語の構造的位置に関しては生成文法の理論的枠組みにおいて様々に論じられてきたが、顕在的な（派生）位置に関しては、言語、構文により様々な提案があるものの、いまだに解決されていない問題が多い。本研究は、日・英語を中心に主語の構造的位置とそれに伴うラベリングと格付与のメカニズムの解明を行うものである。特に、Chomsky (2013, 2015)が提唱するラベリングアルゴリズム(LA)の予測に反すると思われる主語位置について格、省略、移動、節の定形性、幼児の文法に関する様々な構文、方言データ、ならびに幼児の言語獲得データに基づき考察し、主語の位置を確定すると同時にその背後にある理論的根拠を解明することを目的とする。そして、そのことからラベリング分析、ならびに格理論への新たな提案を行い、最適な文法理論構築への貢献を目指すものである。2022年度はまず、全員で研究の進展を確認し、知識を共有した後に、日本語の「が・の」交替現象に関して前田が移動の種類を吟味し、動詞句の中に目的語と主語が残ることができないという一般化としての「他動性制約」を西岡が方言データと比較しながら、「の」格主語を伴う際のラベル付けと格付与の問題を考察し、團迫が日本語と英語を母語とする幼児の統語構造獲得の点から考察した。また、下仮屋は非定形節主語の移動先での共有素性によるラベル付けの問題を考察した。それぞれ口頭発表と論文による公刊という形で成果を一部発表し、今後さらに発表予定である。なお、本年度途中にその成果の妥当性に関して、MITの宮川 繁教授から個別面談による意見聴取を行った。
